The Best Bread in the World
This is a loaf of pain aux cereales that I bought this morning from Maison Kayser on New York’s Upper East Side. It’s all gone. I thought I would just try a bite of it before I took it home as part of the dinner offerings for later. But I took one bite. And I couldn’t stop. My hand just dug into the this bag and pulled away at it until the very last amazing nubby end was in my mouth.
I read that David Lebovitz says that it’s “perhaps the best bread in the world.”
And, um, this mofo thing is more than that. Amazing. It’s crusty in the right way, tangy in the right way and full of texture in the right way.
New Yorkers, go there now. Blow your mind and eat Eric Kayser’s pain aux cereales.
